Stationary Steam Engineer’s Course*

This course gives participants 3 things:
1. Get participants Ohio test ready for the:
Low Pressure Boiler Operator
High Pressure Boiler Operator
Stationary Steam Engineer’s licensing exams. (State of Ohio Licensing Exam)
2. Instills new Operators with the boots-on-the-ground knowledge they need to run their equipment safety, efficiently, and competently.
3. A credit of 1,300 of the 2,000 experience hours required to sit for the applicable Ohio boilers license examinations.
It is an interactive training experience in which knowledge is tested and conversations abound to support each student with their specific area of concern.
Many students leave having developed new friendships and with a sense of community around this skilled trade.

This course is not like any other boiling training. It’s not a boring, butts-in-the-seat all day classroom. It’s not an endless, monotonous lecture with abstract concepts and unprofessional materials. It’s not a way to get out of work because Steamworks’ interactive learning structure doesn’t leave learning to chance.

Receive Work Hours Credit Toward Qualifications
A boiler operator must have specific qualifications to sit for the State of Ohio Licensing Exam. This Steamworks training is approved to credit 1,300 hours of the 2,000 work hours required within those qualifications.
Companies Get Reimbursed!
This course has been approved by State of Ohio for Tech Cred. This means companies in the State of Ohio may apply for Tech Cred to receive up to a $2,000 reimbursement. Tech Cred supports learning new skills and helps employers build a stronger workforce with the skills needed in a tech-infused economy. Visit the Tech Cred website for more information and the application requirements and deadline dates for each period of submission. NOTE: You may apply for Tech Cred up to one year from the date of course completion.

This premiere program is taught by a steam industry expert, Jon Kapel. Jon’s style of training creates a unique experience for every student. From his impassioned love of the steam industry to his personal experience in the trade and a down-to-earth, approachable personality, students are highly engaged.
Jon utilizes a combination of training tools such as real-time video feeds, facility tours, a PowerPoint presentation, drawings shown via overhead camera, helpful props and “cutaway” parts, demonstrations, and useful teaching methods such as 3D video clips for a virtual experience of specific issues, quizzes, worksheets, and other educational documents.
Each participant gets a lot out of the training, reinforcing the material covered like no other program.
